About Susan

Susan Teare is pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Studies doing arts-based research at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, after completing a certificate in Arts in Health at Lesley. She has a BA in Art History from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME, and an MFA in Photography and Media Studies from Maine Media College in Rockport, ME. Susan is a Social Emotional Arts (SEA) Facilitator, having received her training and certification in Social Emotional Arts through the Arts and Healing Initiative. She is the Education and Creative Advisor/Senior Research Associate for the Yellow Tulip Project (YTP). The organization is a youth-driven movement working to smash the stigma surrounding mental health and bring communities together to foster hope. Susan is a member of the NOAH (National Organization for Arts in Health) and IACAET (International Association for Creative Arts in Education and Therapy). Her art practice focuses on creating emotive and sensory-based experiences in spaces using various materials and mediums. The regenerated and cyclical nature of her art process contributes significantly to her work to increase awareness about mental health and the health of our earth.
